The interdisciplinary nature of contemporary research in social sciences Polish-Romanian Conference, IFiS PAN Warsaw, Staszic Palace, room 200, 10.00 A.M. April 23 (Thursday) The starting point will be the panel discussion with about 6-7 participants.

Moderator: Prof. Józef Niżnik
Romanian participants: Prof. George Anglitoium, Prof. Alina Bargaoanu, Dr. Loredana Radu
Polish participants: Prof. Joanna Kurczewska, Prof. Mirosława Marody, Prof. Szymon Wróbel

The proposed panel discussion will focus on the following questions:
1. How much contemporary social sciences fit the category of ‘behavioral sciences’, and how much go beyond this category?
2. What are conceptual and/or theoretical links between different disciplines qualified as ‘social’: e.g. sociology, social and cultural anthropology, political science, social psychology and others ?
3. What future have the disciplinary divisions between different social sciences?

Of course, in addition to the above questions each participants will be free to present the problems she/he considers the most important.

The follow up will depend on the declarations of the Romanian colleagues to present their research projects majority of which are indeed interdisciplinary. It is expected that some projects of Polish colleagues will be also presented. The list of the possible presentations will be completed by the end of March 2015.
