Tenure -Track Research Group Leader in Economic Sociology

The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) is seeking a  (tenure track) starting on October 1, 2018, or earlier.

The research group will be made up of the research group leader, one postdoc and two doctoral students. The successful candidate is expected to be involved in teaching and PhD advising at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE, imprs.mpifg.de). A strong knowledge of methods, either quantitative or qualitative, is necessary.

Applicants must have several years of postdoctoral research experience. A PhD in sociology or a related discipline and an excellent research track record are required. The contract is initially for five years, with the possibility of tenure. The tenure decision will depend on a positive evaluation and the approval of a committee of the Max Planck Society’s Human Sciences Section on positions at the Associate Professor (W2) level.
